To quantify the loss of intensity caused by the transfocator, we replaced the knife-edge corner by an ion chamber (IC PLUS 50; FMB-Oxford, England) filled with nitrogen at ∼1 atm, coupled to a current amplifier DDPCA-300 (FEMTO Messtechnik GmbH, Berlin, Germany) and connected to an ADC ADLink 2005 (ADLINK Technology Inc., Taiwan).
